Our Word is moving to a new server

In the next day or so, Our Word will move to new servers. Hopefully this will rectify the rather slow site performance here. During the move, we will disable all posting so that nothing gets lost. Once the site is moved, hopefully things will work a bit better.

Sometimes moves can take a couple of days to really take effect. This is because some ISPs can take a while to update their DNS logs. Patience is a virtue, they say....

Changes to front page

You may notice a few changes to our front page. For instance the lists of new members and members currently online have disappeared. This is do to some server side issues with our ISP. We'll be back to our usual front page as soon as we can.

What about RACE?

Everytime a blog is posted or posts are browsed by topic, we are ignoring the national white elephant: RACE! I know that many contributors here are aware of the many intersections of gender and race and sexuality, but from the topics list it appears as though "ourword" is our(WHITE)word. For feminist and lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of color this is just another place where there experience and identity isn't affirmed. This individual can't tag their posting as 'lesbiana' and 'race' when they want to write about how their family thinks they "became white" when they came out to their family. Do we want to ignore these issues or worse drive this voice away?

Madman is UP! at BMT, DK and LSF

In the wake so much contradictory writing on the netteries and Bloggeries (Unity UNity Unity Donate Donate Donate Not on my Blogrolleriana):

we at LSF are going thru our recent archives... back when the Dems in DC blew the game to hell, filibuster, nuclear option, Brown and Owen, Gang of 14, REID, BIDEN ... the list is long. Very long.

Madman in the marketplace has brushed off and updated the all time favorite Vichy Dems...

Drupal-account logins disabled

Because of some security concerns, we've disabled the Drupal-based distributed authentication module for now. That means that people will no longer be able to log in here using an account on another Drupal-based site, and will not be able to log in on other Drupal-powered sites using an Our Word account.

There may be a revamped module available in the future. If so, we'll make an announcement. Until then, members will have to create new accounts here. (Your email address is kept in strict confidence.)
