a fabulous writer will be missed. I absolutely loved her writing!

In passing, also, I would like to say that the first time Adam had a chance he laid the blame on a woman."

My first exposure to Octavia Butler has been Fledgling. Not surprising, for me, that I'd never heard of her before--I tend to shy away from the science fiction genre, even when it's feminist science fiction. But the day Octavia died my friend and I were sitting at dinner discussing whether Fledgling was a pedophiliac book. (According to some critiques it is.)

I don't want to say too much more for fear of spoiling it for people who haven't read the book, but I can definitely say she's on my must-read list.
