Silence is a fragile thing

Inspired by "my biggest fan" (sarcasm required)

From V for Vendetta

It does not do to rely too much on silent majorities, for silence is a fragile thing.
one loud noise and it's gone.
Noise is relative to the silence preceding it. The more absolute the hush, the more shocking the thunderclap.
Our masters have not heard the people's voice for generations...
and it is much, much louder than they care to remember.

We have to listen.
To the poor, quiet
non-existent voices
of people who have no way to vent

What do we lose
to spend a moment
to tune in and really hear
WHAT IS BEING SAID

Because
despite
being black
or brown
or blind
or stupid
or old
or female
or dying
or poor
we have something to say

Dignity
Humanity
Reality

And love
And hope
And caring
And belief
And hope
And love
And feeling
And future
And rights
And grace
And mercy
And small, small desires

mean something
in the grey
everyday
nothing
that feeds us all

And from your tower
from your throne
you can easily see
the hordes
the savages
the unclean
untidy
barbarians
set
in your mind
on invasion
on wiping you out
your lie
your paranoid
wet dream
your nightmare
You awake sweating
watching
waiting
for us to replace you
to do you in
because
according to you
this is our plan

Because to you
my skin,
my 1%,
is all
that counts

Because to you
my heart,
that burns with passion,
means less
than my colour

Because to you
my thoughts and brightness
can be measured and weighed
and judged
