Big relief... I never cared for the embarrassment that being one was fast becoming (did not vote for Clinton in '96), and the rightward drift is decades old. Many BIG TIME DEMS never cared for the Civil Rights advancements, ERA ws a bad word, we did not get National Health (that was not welfare) from years of D conttrol of congress... the list is long.

But my opinion of the place (Dkos) for actual unfettered political discussion fell in summer of 2003... s l o w l y it morphed to a place to watch the propaganda spin. About where it is at.

As I said on another thread, I usually check out Kos for the recommended diary posts, not the main page and not the conflicts (I go elsewhere for that). So what's the scoop on your banning? I remember reading you for a long time on dKos. If you were banned for something other than, like, spewing KKK slogans or issuing death threats, then dKos really IS something other than what I thought it was. Gotta link?

is a staffer in the Schumer office. It hd been asked of him in a thread the day before (wehre he was handing out "1s", a Casey Pennachio thread) and he did not respond. So I asked again. My reason for asking is spelled out in my comment, he was prone to calling Democrats and democrats "traitor" when it suited him during the Kerry run... not miscreants, not trolls but using that word on ordinary fellow posters.

I nver returned to the thread but ws emailed late that night that Humter came into the thread and excoriated me. Sometime during the night I was banned, which I found out about the next day when Wilfred (who blogs at Liberal Street Fighter too) eamiled me that we (wilfred and I) were being takem down publically on the FP by Hunter. I nver read the take down.

I doubt the 'highly manipulated for their own purposes' opinion of me held by DhinMI, Kos Armando Hunter DavidNYC (much less GregNYC, obviously a beloved poster who is not to be looked at directly) nor any other FPer past, present or those who have withdrawn (for whatever reason ) from the FP, is worth my time... LOL.

This appeared in my email box 50 minutes ago (from [email address deleted]). I had posted thread comments earlier this evening at LSF in answer to an inquiry about what happened from "paradox" an even longer time poster from Dkos.

Paradox, like Billmon, Soto, JJB, Marie, Colleen, Bill Rehm and others made me welcome when I arrived at DKos. The "operative class" were people like "Joey D" who, early on (jan 2004), went to Burlington. They posted as one among equals. Unlike the sort that run the place now:

A pharmacist, speaking under an anonymous "assumed name," making a mental health diagnosis and implying a need for anti-psychotic medication appears to me to be violating, at the very least, the spirit of the ethical code controlling his profession. An ethical code, I would assume, he swore an oath to uphold.

My impression of old Greg was definitely not favorable. I'm sure at some point on Kos I either tangled with the dude, or tried to uprate some posts that the asshole had tried to troll-rate. The guy's a piece of work. I wonder what his state ethics board would think of his unsolicited "diagnosis" as well as the apparent email harrassment of you. Very unprofessional on his part.

...I'm still left with some doubts. See, I belong to a Canadian progressive discussion board where asking that sort of question persistantly IS explicitly a bannable offense. Directly putting someone in a position where they're under pressure to out their real-life jobs/identities, even political ones, is off-limits, although you'd get a couple of temporary suspensions before banning. And I can see why.

Nevertheless, I can also see how it might have been convenient for them to step up to the maximum penalty quickly, and the email sucks too.

I can't say that I have a full picture of what was going on there. If I took that bit out of context I'd have a certain interpretation of it, but I'm fully aware that it's likely to be wrong. I used to argue with Armando a little bit too, and now I know a little bit more of what you're talking about: he's a lot more interested in the sound bite than in the issue, but this is pretty corrosive to democracy---I'm still ambivalent though about the tactical debate here, however.

You are white (I presume, but it is a good guess) and male. Armando, the hierarchy at that site in fact, is very predictable from a pattern of behavior.

Your conversations with him (particularly wrt issues that concern women and the welfare of women) would not be of real value to me to read... so I did not follow the link. Time is scarce and I make no apology. As I said I have read and engaged Armando for years now.

I realise you are commenting in an open thread, tho with little background. But that does make the critical difference.
