to wake up to a Zager and Evans reference ... it made me laugh.

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, and say
Is in the pill you took today

I'm such a sucker for cool old songs.

IF you'd take the train with me
uptown, thru the misery
of ghetto streets in morning light,
it's always night.
Take a window seat, put down your Times,
you can read between the lines,
just meet the faces that you meet
beyond the window's pane.

And it might begin to teach you
how to give a damn about your fellow man.
And it might begin to teach you
how to give a damn about your fellow man.

Or put your girl to sleep sometime
with rats instead of nursery rhymes,
with hunger and your other children
by her side,
and wonder if you'll share your bed
with something else which must be fed,
for fear may lie beside you
or it may sleep down the hall.

[chorus]

come and see how well despair
is seasoned by the stif'ling air,
see your ghetto in the good old
sizzling summertime.
Suppose the streets were all on fire
the flames like tempers leaping higher
suppose you'd lived there all your life,

d' you think that you would mind?
And it might begin to reach you
why I give a damn about my fellow man;
and it might begin to teach you
how to give a damn about your fellow man.

I'm going to feel silly when I find out ... but what's the name of that song, and who wrote it?

but tiny url confuses me. Are you saying that if I want to link to a really long url like this one: http://www.execpc.com/~wmvoice/index.htm
all I have to do is send it to tiny url and it will come back tiny? Then how to I put it in this post?

Kactus, the unenlightened one.

You put the long URL into the "wayback machine" and it spits out a small url that is readable through tiny. I LOVE it!

One way to shorten a URL is to paste it into their form on their home page. They give you a shorter URL you can post, so the really long ones (and some are much much longer than your example) don't push the page right off the margins.

An easier way is to drag their Javascript tool to your toolbar. When you're on a site you like, just click the tinyurl button and bingo, you get a shorter url you can use in posts.

Some men already get it.
Some men would, if you but point to the spinach in their teeth they cannot see.
Some men will think the can, but correct you in the end.
Some men will never get, because doing so would be an admission they fear.

You said it well, in my opinion. I'd add only that some men might get some of it, and really want to "get it even better", and are actively engaged in trying to.

ONward!

from my experience men do listen. whether or not it changes what they do/say/think is an entirely different matter.
